MathConcept’s Little First Steps program for early childhood learners enhances their natural interest in mathematics and their instinct to use it to organize and make sense of their world in preparation for kindergarten math.

MathConcept First Steps (K2 to K3)

MathConcept's First Steps is a tailor made program for kindergarten learners. By focusing on children’s weaknesses and building on their strengths to enhances their natural interest in mathematics. We use a distinctive combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written methods to help students grasp fundamental math concepts. Exposing children to basic math concepts through addressing the foundational skills and logical thinking in preparation for primary math.

• Target: Suitable for K.1 to K.3 and Grade 1 Students.
• Assessment: Students will take a Diagnostic Test which costs $200 (the fee can be waived upon enrollment).
• Time: Once or twice a week, 1 or 2 hours class each time, depending on student’s need.
• Class Size: Each tutor will have a maximum class of 6 students at a time.

We understand that learning math in primary school is very important — it acts as the foundation for all your child’s future math studies. They must master their basic number facts and develop numerical fluency. They first work on computation and problem solving using whole numbers, and then move on to fractions, decimals, and percents. They are also introduced to different enrichment topics such as shapes, measurements, data handling, etc. Not only we teach students all-important math concepts and skills, our unique program also helps them build number sense by showing them how math can work in a way that makes sense. This foundation is vital for topics that they will encounter in secondary school.

Our experienced group of tutors will evaluate students with a written and verbal assessment. Based on their assessment results, we assemble a tailored learning plan just for them, designed to close any educational gaps that they may have and jump ahead when they are ready for advanced math challenges. We use a distinctive combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written methods that cover and surpass Hong Kong EDB and most international math standards (such as IBPYP and British Year 1 to 6) to help students grasp fundamental math concepts and gain confidence and self–esteem.

As well as other science and non-science subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, and economics all require some specific and basic set of math skill. MathConcept's Math Olympiad Program is designed not only the child prodigy or math competition but to popularize Math Olympiad to everyone. We will teach students how to develop a diverse and outside the box thinking. We will train students to think logically and creatively. Our students will gain problem solving, analyzing, and presentation skills through our program. Once your kid has completed a level, parents should see the following changes in your kid:
